Product Description
11ga x 2" Pre-Galvanized (GBW) Chain Link Fence Wire Fabric - Multiple Sizes
- Easy DIY Project: 11ga wire is light enough for homeowners to handle, but stronger than common 11.5ga retail fabric
- Durable: ASTM A392 Class 1 galvanized coating (≈1.2 oz/ft²) resists rust and corrosion
- Economical: Affordable per foot, yet built heavier than typical home improvement store rolls
- Professional Grade: True 11ga wire and a 2" mesh offer more strength and a tighter, straighter fence than the 11.5ga, 2-3/8" fabric often sold at big retailers
This 50' roll of 11ga × 2" Galvanized Before Weave (GBW) Chain Link Fabric delivers professional-grade quality at a residential-friendly price. With a true wire thickness of about 0.1205", it’s noticeably stronger than the 11.5ga (~0.113") wire commonly found at big-box stores. The tighter 2" diamond mesh keeps the fence more rigid, helps prevent sag, and looks cleaner than the looser 2-3/8" mesh offered by many mass-market rolls.
Because the wire is galvanized before weaving, it has a smooth finish without the sharp burrs (“icicles”) that can be left behind on Galvanized After Weave (GAW) products. That makes it easier to install and ideal for backyards, gardens, and pet enclosures. Plus, the zinc coating meets ASTM A392 Class 1 standards for corrosion resistance.
We sell fabric in standard 50' rolls. Need more? Splicing is simple—just weave one strand of wire between sections to connect them. Standard selvage is Knuckle-Knuckle (KK) through 6' and Knuckle-Twist (KT) above 6', but custom selvages are available upon request—just contact us.

Knuckle-Knuckle (KK) vs. Knuckle-Twist (KT)
Knuckle-Knuckle selvage bends both ends of the wire over for a smooth, blunt finish—safer for kids, pets, and sports use. Knuckle-Twist selvage twists wire ends together, leaving a sharp point that discourages climbing. KK is standard up to 6' high; KT is standard on taller rolls.
Buying Guide
- Gauge: Choose 11ga for stronger, straighter fabric. Many big-box rolls are 11.5ga (weaker and more flexible).
- Mesh Size: Our 2" diamond provides more rigidity and a cleaner look than the 2-3/8" mesh common in retail rolls.
- Height: 4' and 5' are common for yards and pets; 6'+ adds privacy options with slats.
- Selvage: KK (safer, smoother) for most residential jobs; KT (more aggressive) for security fences.
- Finish: GBW is smooth and burr-free.
- Framework Match: Be sure to order matching galvanized posts, top rail, fittings, and tension wire for a complete system.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How is this better than most big-box “residential” chain link?
- Most home improvement stores stock 11.5ga, 2-3/8" fabric. Our rolls are true 11ga with a tighter 2" mesh—making them stronger, stiffer, and better looking.
- What does “GBW” mean?
- Galvanized Before Weave. Wire is zinc-coated first, then woven. The result: smoother finish, no sharp burrs, safer to handle.
- Can I splice rolls together?
- Yes. Simply weave a single strand between two sections. The result is seamless and strong.
- Does this meet standards?
- Yes—fabric meets ASTM A392 Class 1 for coating and ASTM A817 wire standards.
- Is 11ga strong enough for dogs?
- Yes—11ga is more durable than 11.5ga retail fabric, holding up better against leaning and jumping pets.
