The LokkLatch® Regular is a proven, professional grade gate latch for residential and light-commercial walk gates. It’s key-lockable at the latch and can be upgraded with an optional External Access Kit (EAK) so you can operate and lock/unlock the gate from the outside. Its compact profile suits vinyl privacy gates, ornamental panels, and wood gates where a clean look and dependable performance matter.
Pair it with TruClose® self-closing hinges to help ensure consistent closure. Have questions on fit or the right EAK option? Contact us—we’re happy to help.

Installation
Mount the latch body to the gate or post per manufacturer orientation, install the striker on the mating member, then fine-tune vertical/horizontal alignment until the latch engages smoothly. If adding an External Access Kit, position the outside handle/lock and connect the actuator per instructions. Set hinge tension (or closer setting) so the gate shuts fully and latches.
Note: Locking the outside handle (EAK) does not automatically lock the inside latch; each side locks independently.
Buying Guide
- Inside vs. two-sided access — Latch-only for inside control; add EAK for outside operation and key control.
- Gate material & hardware — Confirm you have the correct brackets/fasteners for vinyl, metal, or wood.
- Self-closing — For reliable latching, pair with self-closing hinges and/or a gate closer.
- Security planning — Decide who needs keys for the inside latch and outside EAK (if used).
- Code considerations — For pool barriers, verify local code; a top-pull, pool-oriented latch may be required.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does this latch lock?
- Yes. It is key-lockable at the latch. Add the External Access Kit if you want keyed access from the outside as well.
- Will it work on vinyl or ornamental metal gates?
- Yes—when mounted with the appropriate brackets/fasteners. It’s commonly used on vinyl privacy gates, ornamental panels, and wood gates.
- Do I need self-closing hinges?
- Recommended. The latch engages when the gate meets the striker; hinges/closers provide the closing force for consistent, automatic shut.
- Is it pool-code compliant?
- This is a general-purpose latch. Compliance depends on your local code and installation details; many jurisdictions require a top-pull, pool-rated latch.
- Can I operate and lock it from outside?
- Yes, with the optional External Access Kit. Note that the inside latch and outside handle lock independently.
- How weather-resistant is it?
- It uses polymer housings and stainless-steel components to resist corrosion in outdoor environments.
