Product Description
- Contractor-Grade Quality: True 8 ga finish (11 ga core) extruded vinyl-coated fabric—heavier and stronger than most big-box “residential grade” vinyl chain link
- Durable Coating: Class I extruded vinyl over galvanized steel wire provides rust resistance and color at an affordable price
- Color Options: Available in black, brown, or green to complement landscaping and blend into surroundings
- Flexible Heights: Multiple roll heights available for residential and light commercial projects
- Affordable Upgrade: Adds color and a finished look for far less cost than ornamental steel or vinyl privacy fencing
This 50' roll of 8 ga x 2" vinyl-coated chain link fabric delivers a strong galvanized steel core wire (11 ga), finished with a Class I extruded vinyl jacket that builds it out to an 8 ga thickness. The smooth vinyl covering protects the steel from corrosion, adds a splash of color, and creates a safer, more attractive fence for residential yards, schools, and parks.
Meets Federal Specification RR-F-191/1D, Type IV and ASTM F-668, Class I. Sold in 50' rolls only, but splicing is easy—just weave a single strand between sections.
Standard selvage is Knuckle-Knuckle (KK) through 6' and Knuckle-Twist (KT) above 6'. Custom selvage is available—just contact us.
Vinyl Coating Types
- Class I (Extruded): Vinyl is pulled over the wire like a sleeve. Thickest coating, lowest cost, but less adhesion. Can cut or peel if abused—best for residential applications.
- Class 2a (Extruded & Bonded): Vinyl sleeve is glued to the core wire for better adhesion, reducing the chance of peeling. Common in higher-end residential or commercial use.
- Class 2b (Fused & Bonded): Vinyl is thermally fused and bonded directly to the galvanized wire for the toughest, longest-lasting finish. Used in heavy commercial, industrial, and government projects.

Buying Guide
- Gauge: Don’t confuse “finish gauge” with core wire—8 ga finish fabric has an 11 ga steel core, heavier than many retail rolls.
- Coating Type: This product is Class I extruded—great for residential and light commercial. If you need tougher adhesion, consider Class 2a or Class 2b fabric.
- Mesh Size: Our 2″ mesh is tighter and stronger than the 2-3/8″ openings often found in many big-box rolls.
- Colors: Black offers a modern look, green blends with landscaping, brown matches natural settings.
- Selvage Choice: KK for safe backyard/playground use, KT for added security on taller fences.
- System Matching: Pair with vinyl-coated framework and fittings for consistent appearance and longevity.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How does this compare to big-box vinyl fabric?
- Most big-box stores carry 9 ga finish, 2-3/8" mesh vinyl fabric. Ours is heavier 8 ga finish, tighter 2″ mesh, and contractor-grade quality.
- What coating class is this?
- This is Class I extruded—vinyl is sleeved over the galvanized core. It’s thicker but less adhesive than bonded or fused coatings.
- Will the vinyl peel?
- Class I extruded can peel if cut or heavily abraded.
- Is it pet/kid friendly?
- Yes—the smooth vinyl surface reduces scratches and looks softer than bare galvanized wire.
- Can I splice rolls?
- Yes—just weave one strand between two sections for a seamless join.
- Does this meet standards?
- Yes—it meets Federal RR-F-191/1D Type IV and ASTM F-668 Class I requirements.
