Installation
Place the band around the terminal post with the square hole toward the pull. Insert the tension bar through the fabric diamonds and into the band. Install a 5/16″ × 1-1/4″ carriage bolt & nut and tighten until snug. Typical spacing is about every 12″ (up to 18″ in some cases). As a rule of thumb, use one fewer band than the fence height in feet (e.g., a 6′ fence uses 5 bands). For fasteners, see our galvanized carriage bolts.
Buying Guide
- Choose by post O.D.: Select the band size that matches your terminal post outside diameter.
- Flat vs. beveled: For heavier commercial jobs or higher loads, consider beveled tension bands (heavier gauge).
- Color systems: Prefer a color finish? Use color flat bands to blend with Black/Brown/Green frameworks.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What’s the difference between flat and beveled tension bands?
- Flat bands are a lighter, economical choice for residential fences. Beveled bands are heavier-gauge and commonly used in commercial applications.
- How many bands do I need at a terminal post?
- Typical spacing is about every 12″; many installers use one fewer band than the fence height in feet (e.g., 6′ fence → 5 bands).
- Are bolts included?
- No. Order 5/16″ × 1-1/4″ carriage bolts & nuts separately.
- Will these work on gates and panels?
- Yes. They’re commonly used on terminal posts, gate frames, kennel panels, and temporary fence panels.
- Do these fit square posts?
- No. These are sized for round post O.D.s. Use hardware designed for square posts if needed.
