Product review 6 inch column cap
I have purchased about 20 of these for my deck and the more I use them the more I don’t like them. The problem is they are very difficult to use although they are very versatile meaning they fit a lot of different sizes of lumber. One issue is I ran across the situation to where I needed an 8th inch shim. I had already installed the base plate of the bracket, and if you install a shim on top of the Base plate, it offsets the L bracket and creates a gap between the beam and the bracket so if you don’t need any shims, you might be fine. The other issue that I have left in previous reviews is the L bracket does not extend out far enough to put the screws in straight. They have to be installed at a steep angle to hit the hole And then once you get them in, they cannot be taken out the L bracket needs to be redesigned to where it is about 1/4 of an inch wider so that the screw holes are missing the lower bracket pegs allowing you to put the three screws in perpendicular at a 90° angle and not at a steep offset. Other than that, it’s a great product. It works for my application although it is difficult to use. I love it if somebody would respond back to me to discuss this if they have any questions I can provide photos.

Extremely difficult to install small screws
I chose this bracket because it is very versatile for various sizes of lumber. The challenge is there are three screws on the bottom bracket on each side of fasten into the beam that are almost impossible to get in place because the way everything fits together the screws must be installed at a steep angle and cannot sit flat. This could be resolved very easily with a redesign of the lip being a quarter of an inch wider. This is the L shaped bracket that bolts to the post and then upwards into the bottom of the beam. Other than that it’s an excellent design and very versatile, but the time I spent trying to get screws in And making any adjustments was extremely frustrating. The instructions were not clear so if I’m doing something wrong somebody please reach out to me.
