The Laredo Sunset 8″ Post-to-Beam Coupler for Seams makes long-span layouts easier by letting you join two beam segments over a post with repeatable alignment and a finished look. Set both beam ends on the coupler’s ledge, position the cover plates, and through-bolt the top holes with OWT Timber Bolts for a tight, durable seam. Built from 3/16″ galvanized steel and finished in black powder coat, it’s ideal for pergolas, pavilions, porch roofs, and other outdoor structures where beam lengths need to be spliced cleanly at intermediate posts.
Why Choose This
- Cleaner seams — Purpose-made hardware aligns and clamps beam ends right at the post
- Faster installs — The ledge supports members so one person can work more safely
- Built to last — Galvanized substrate + exterior powder coat for long outdoor service

Tighten, verify alignment, and repeat on the opposite face. Follow local code and your project’s engineering for spans and loads.

Buying Guide
- Don’t forget bolts: Add OWT Timber Bolts for the top holes; finish exposed faces with OWT Hammered Dome Cap Nuts or OWT Hex Cap Nuts.
- Mix with standard joints: For non-seam post/beam joints on the same project, see Laredo Sunset Post-to-Beam Bolt (Inline) or the Bolt (Offset).
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this the right part for joining two beams end-to-end at a post?
- Yes. The coupler is specifically intended for inline “seam” connections at intermediate posts.
- Do I have to use Timber Bolts?
- Yes for the top holes. Timber Bolts provide the clamping needed for a secure seam; screws are not recommended in the top holes.
- Will it match my other Laredo Sunset hardware?
- Yes. The geometry and black powder coat coordinate with the Laredo Sunset OWT line.
- Can I use this at the very end of a beam run?
- It’s designed for seam splices at intermediate posts. For end/terminal joints, use a standard Post-to-Beam connector.
Comparison
- Laredo Sunset 8″ Coupler (this item): Designed for seam splices over a post; requires Timber Bolts in top holes.
- Laredo Sunset Post-to-Beam Bolt — Inline/Offset: Standard post/beam joints (not a seam); also through-bolted for higher clamping.
- Laredo Sunset Post-to-Beam (OWT-Lite): Lighter-gauge, screw-fastened connectors for typical residential applications.
