Product Description
Pressed-Steel Chain Link Rail End — Galvanized, No-Truss-Hole (Multiple Sizes)
- Terminates Round Rails Cleanly — Cup-and-ear fitting captures the rail and bolts to a terminal, corner, or gate post
- Heavy-Duty Pressed Steel — Galvanized for outdoor durability on residential through commercial jobs
- No Truss-Rod Hole — Ideal when you’re not using diagonal/truss bracing; choose “combo” rail ends when a truss rod is required
- Standard Post Hardware — Connects with a brace band + carriage bolt on the post (sold separately)
- Also Great for Frames — Common in greenhouse and other tubular-structure builds
Finish your chain link top, mid, or bottom/brace rails with a galvanized pressed-steel rail end. The cup secures the round rail while the ear bolts to a brace band on a terminal, corner, or gate post to create a rigid, professional termination. Select the size to match your rail O.D. For fences with diagonal bracing, use “combo” rail ends that include a hole for a truss rod.
Why Choose This
- Rugged & economical — Pressed steel holds up in high-traffic environments at a budget-friendly price
- Clean alignment — Cup-and-ear geometry helps keep rails square at the post
- Flexible placement — Works for top, mid, and bottom/brace rails
- Field-proven — Uses the same brace bands and carriage bolts you already stock

| Typical Usage | Chain link rail terminations (top/mid/bottom); greenhouses; tubular structures | |
Installation
Slide the round rail fully into the cup. Place a brace band around the post at rail height with the band’s square hole aligned to the rail end ear. Insert a 5/16″ × 1-1/4″ carriage bolt from the band side through the ear, add the nut, and tighten until snug. Keep the rail level and the ear square while tightening. Use one rail end per rail termination (double quantities at corners where two rails meet the same post).
Buying Guide
- Match the rail: Order 1-3/8″ for 1-3/8″ O.D. rails or 1-5/8″ for 1-5/8″ O.D. rails.
- With truss bracing? Choose a combo rail end that includes a truss-rod hole.
- Aluminum vs. pressed steel: Aluminum is rust-proof and lightweight; pressed steel is rugged and budget-friendly.
- Hardware: Brace bands are sized to the post O.D. (e.g., 2-3/8″, 2-7/8″, 4″). Use the 5/16″ × 1-1/4″ bolt length listed above unless your band/stack-up requires more thread.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does this have a truss-rod hole?
- No. This is a no-hole rail end. Use a combo rail end if you’re installing diagonal/truss bracing.
- What bolt and band do I need?
- Use a brace band sized to your post and a 5/16″ × 1-1/4″ carriage bolt to connect the ear to the band.
- Will galvanized steel rust?
- The galvanized coating is corrosion-resistant. If the coating is damaged and bare steel is exposed, rust can occur over time.
- Can I use these on greenhouse/tubular frames?
- Yes—many builders use no-hole rail ends where a truss-rod hole isn’t desired.
- How many do I need?
- One per rail termination. For corners with two rails meeting a single post, you’ll need two rail ends and two brace bands (or a combination band).
Comparison
| Option | Strengths | Considerations | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pressed-Steel Rail End (this item) | Rugged; economical; galvanized | Not for truss-rod runs | Standard rail terminations without diagonal bracing |
| Combo Rail End (with Truss Hole) | Accepts a truss rod for braced sections | More parts; specific to braced runs | Stiffening long or gate-adjacent panels |
| Heavy Aluminum Rail End | Rust-proof; great near salt/moisture | Higher cost than pressed steel | Coastal/high-corrosion environments |
| Line Rail (Boulevard) Clamp | Let rails pass through line posts | Not a termination fitting | Mid/bottom rails continuing past posts |
