Residential Double Drive Gate Drop Rod Kits are designed to secure 2 chain link gates in the closed position. These drop rods install easily with the included guides and hardware. To secure your gate, simply twist the drop rod until the pre-installed set screw clears the guides and the drop rod lowers into the ground. To open the gate, lift up on the drop rod and turn it until the set screw catches on the guide and holds the rod up.

We recommend using these drop rods with one of our pressed steel or malleable center stops, but you can also create your own by driving a piece of steel or pvc pipe into the ground below the drop rod at the point where the gates are fully closed.

Installation

Attach your drop rod guides to your 1-3/8" chain link gate framework using the included bolts and nuts. The position at which you install the guides will vary depending on the type of center stop that you are using. The drop rod should clear the ground, and any other obstacles, when in the up position. If you are using a piece of pipe as a center stop, the drop rod should rest below ground level when in the "lowered" position.
