Product Description
Residential Double Drive Drop Rod Kit — Lockable, Aluminum (36″ & 44″)
- Secure Your Double Gates — Holds two chain link leaves together at the center; drop the rod into a center stop to keep gates shut
- Lock-Ready — Twist-to-lower/raise operation with a capture screw; padlockable for added security (padlock not included)
- Rust-Proof Aluminum — Lightweight aluminum rod and components for long outdoor service
- Complete, Easy Install — Guides and mounting hardware are included; clamps to a 1-3/8″ gate upright
- Two Lengths — Choose 36″ for typical driveways or 44″ for added reach/down-travel
Keep residential double swing chain link gates reliably closed with this lockable drop rod kit. The included guides bolt to a 1-3/8″ O.D. gate frame so the rod travels straight down into a center stop. To open the gate, lift and twist the rod so the factory set screw rests on the upper guide; to secure, twist and lower into your center stop. Pair with a pressed-steel, malleable-iron, or aluminum center stop based on your site and soil.
Why Choose This
- Trusted residential setup — Simple, durable, and installer-friendly
- Corrosion resistant — Aluminum construction won’t rust like plain steel
- Clean operation — Guides keep the rod aligned so gate leaves meet consistently
- Lockable — Accepts a padlock to discourage unauthorized opening

Installation
Bolt the guides to your 1-3/8″ gate upright using the included hardware. Set the guide spacing so the rod clears the ground when raised, and seats confidently into your center stop when lowered. For the stop, use a drive-in pressed-steel style for turf, a malleable-iron center stop for paved aprons, or an aluminum stop in coastal/corrosive areas. After positioning, test the lift-and-twist action so the capture screw reliably rests on the upper guide in the open position.
Buying Guide
- Pick a length: Choose 36″ for standard residential aprons; select 44″ for deeper set or uneven grade.
- Center stop: Add a center stop to capture the rod (pressed-steel field style, malleable, or aluminum options).
- Locking: Use a weather-rated padlock (not included) if you need to secure the leaves together.
- Heavy-duty alternatives: For industrial/commercial gates, consider a steel cane bolt or welded fork-and-pin assemblies.

Great ItemI recently purchased a new double drive gate lock since the previous owners had left theirs damaged. Could not find this item anywhere else so it was great that this item could be found for a reasonable price.
