Product Description
OZCO® OWT-Lite™ Ironwood 8″ Post-to-Beam Connector Kit — 2-Pack (Black, Steel)
- “Third-Hand” Ledge — Set the beam on the built-in ledge so you can align and fasten without a helper
- OWT-Lite Construction — Lighter-gauge steel than full OWT “Bolt” connectors for budget-friendly backyard builds
- Adjusts to Beam Thickness — Two-piece design self-registers over the beam for repeatable installs on smooth or rough-sawn lumber
- Outdoor-Ready Finish — Galvanized steel with durable black exterior powder coat; suitable for use with modern treated lumber
- Ironwood Style — Matches the crisp, angular Ironwood aesthetic across posts, bases, and accents
The OZCO OWT-Lite Ironwood 8" Post to Beam Connector Kit is a simplified version of the standard OWT Hardware Post to Beam Connectors. These connectors are offered at a lower price point because they are engineered to meet minimum-load requirements and are not as heavy-duty as the original OWT line. For example, the original OWT Ironwood Post to Beam Connectors are manufactured from 3/16" galvanized steel, whereas the OWT-Lite connectors are 3/32" galvanized steel - still strong enough for many projects, but not as heavy as the OWT line. The OWT-Lite Ironwood connector is great for smaller projects like pergolas, arbors, and small pavilions.
The Ironwood style of the OWT-Lite Hardware collection features the same rugged, angular look and feel as the original OWT lineup, so they are interchangeable.
Each OWT-Lite Ironwood Post to Beam Offset Connector includes:
- 2 - Ironwood Post Ledge Base Plates
- 2 - Ironwood Top Cover Plates
- 8 - 1-1/2" Hex Cap Nuts
- 4 - 2-3/4" OWT Timber Screws
- 4 - 3-3/4" OWT Timber Screws
The Ironwood Post to Beam Offset Connector DOES NOT include OWT Timber Bolts, which are recommended for larger structures with heavy loads. If using Timber Bolts, choose the size of Timber Bolt that best meets your needs. 4 bolts are needed, and can be purchased separately.
Why Choose This
- Faster, safer handling — The ledge acts like a third hand during layout and fastening
- Cohesive look — Coordinates with Ironwood brackets, caps, and fasteners
- Value-minded — OWT-Lite spec delivers the OWT look at a lighter gauge for typical residential projects

Installation
Dry-fit and mark your beam location. Fasten the post ledge base to the post, set the beam on the ledge, then place the top cover plate. Drive the included OWT Timber Screws as directed. For higher clamping capacity, upgrade the top holes to OWT Timber Bolts if required by your design or local code. Re-check alignment and repeat on the opposite side.
Buying Guide
- OWT-Lite vs. Bolt series: Choose OWT-Lite for lighter-duty residential builds; step up to the Ironwood Post-to-Beam Bolt (Inline) or Bolt (Offset) when you want through-bolted capacity and heavier gauge.
- Don’t forget fasteners: Keep OWT 1/4″ Timber Screws on hand; add Timber Bolts if your design or code calls for through-bolting.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is OWT-Lite structural?
- OWT-Lite connectors are commonly used on typical residential projects. For engineered loads or maximum clamping force, consider the through-bolted “Bolt” series and consult your local code/engineer.
- Do I have to use Timber Bolts?
- No—screws are included for screw-fastened installs. Use Timber Bolts if your design requires through-bolting or higher clamping force.
- Will it match other Ironwood hardware?
- Yes. The geometry and black powder coat coordinate with Ironwood posts, bases, and accents.
- What post size does it fit?
- It’s commonly used with 6″ (nominal) and larger posts on pergolas and small pavilions. Verify clearances for your lumber sizes.
Comparison
- OWT-Lite Ironwood 8″ (this item): Ledge-assisted, screw-fastened connector for value-minded residential builds.
- Ironwood Post-to-Beam Bolt (Inline/Offset): Heavier 3/16″ steel with through-bolted top holes for higher clamping force.
- OWT-Lite Post Bases / Accents: Use matching OWT-Lite bases and accents to keep the look consistent across the project.
