- Outdoor-ready construction — Hot-dip galvanized steel with a black exterior-grade powder coat for long service life outdoors, including with ACQ lumber.
- Complete hardware kit — Each band includes wood screws and decorative plugs for a finished look once installed.
- New builds or repairs — Use on new posts to help minimize future cracks, or on checked posts to help contain further splitting.
OZCO’s OWT Ironwood Post Bands are a simple way to add both strength and style to your outdoor structures. The band cinches evenly around the post faces, helping resist the expansion and contraction that often leads to visible checks in dimensional and rough-cut lumber. Because the assembly is hot-dip galvanized and finished with a black powder coat, it blends with the Ironwood aesthetic while standing up to sun, rain, and coastal conditions. Each kit includes trim plugs that hide the fasteners for a clean, finished look on arbors, pergolas, and decorative posts. The result is a neat visual upgrade that also contributes to post longevity.
Selecting the size is straightforward: choose 4×4, 6×6, or 8×8 based on your nominal post and take advantage of the built-in adjustability to fit planed or rough sawn stock. Installation is quick—wrap the band, start the screws, center the band, and bring it snug so the faces compress evenly; then tap in the plugs to conceal the fasteners. For a coordinated look at the base of your posts, pair bands with an Ironwood Faux Post Base, or step up to a structural solution with the Ironwood Post Base Kit when you need anchoring and uplift resistance alongside the Ironwood style. Ironwood bands are approved for ACQ-treated lumber, so they’re at home on today’s preservative-treated posts as well as cedar or redwood.

- Wrap & align — Place the band around the post; align visually so faces are centered and level.
- Fasten evenly — Start all screws, then tighten in a cross pattern to draw the band snug with even compression.
- Finish — Tap in the decorative plugs to conceal the screw heads; re-check snugness after the first week of weathering.
Buying Guide
- One band or multiple — Use a single band as an accent, or stack bands to echo rail/beam lines on pergolas and arbors.
- Fitment tip — The adjustable range covers planed and rough-cut posts; if your post measures toward the upper end, choose the next size up.
- Finish matching — Black powder-coated finish complements the Ironwood line (post bases, rafter ties, etc.).
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will the bands fit rough-cut posts?

- Are they compatible with ACQ-treated lumber?
- Yes. OZCO specifies compatibility with ACQ-treated wood for the Ironwood line.
- What comes in the box?

- Do bands stop checking completely?
- They help resist further opening and can be placed over existing checks, but they can’t reverse wood movement already present.
Comparison
- Ironwood Post Bands (this item) — Adjustable decorative/retention bands; hot-dip galvanized + black powder coat; screws & plugs included.
- Ironwood Faux Post Base — Aesthetic base skirt that “dresses” posts; does not wrap/compress the post like a band.
- Structural Post Bases — Anchoring hardware for posts (elevated or surface-mount); different purpose than decorative bands.

Ozco post bands
Quality product. I used the Laredo series hardware on the whole pergola & for some reason the post bands DO NOT come in Laredo. Big bummer. However, dealer shipped quick & packaging was good.
