Product Description
OZ-Post® Cap Driving Tool — CDT-07 — For Steel Round OZ-Post® Anchors
- The Easiest Way to Secure the Compression Collar on OZ-Post Steel Post Anchors
- Made from Heavy Duty Cast Steel and Powder Coated for Rust Resistance
- Reusable - Use Again & Again on Round Post Projects
The OZ-Post Cap Driving Tool is designed for use with the line of OZ-Post Round Steel Post Anchors: GB-700, HB-700, IS-600, & ISW-850. The tool is used to drive the compression collar of the post anchor down into a secure position, locking the steel post in place. The tool is simple to use, simply place it around your steel post, above the compression collar, and drive it down onto the collar until the collar locks over the outside of the anchor sleeve.
OZ-Post Steel compression collars can also be driven into place using a sledgehammer, but this tool makes the process much easier. If you are installing multiple round post anchors, or using them for multiple jobs, then this tool will save you time, effort, and money in the long run.
Why Choose This
- Consistency at scale — Uniform cap seating across dozens of posts

Buying Guide
- Match your anchor: Use the CDT-07 with round OZ-Post anchors. For the anchor bodies themselves, see GB-700 (1-5/8″), HB-700 (1-7/8″), and ISW-850 (2-3/8″).
- Drivers vs. cap tool: The CDT-07 seats the cap. To drive anchors into the ground, use the appropriate manual or jackhammer driver kits and bits for your anchor model.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need the CDT-07, or can I use a hammer?
- You can install caps with a hammer, but the CDT-07 centers force on the cap and usually seats it faster and more uniformly on longer runs.
- Which anchors is it compatible with?
- Round steel OZ-Post anchors: GB-700 (1-5/8″), HB-700 (1-7/8″), IS-600 (2-3/8″), and ISW-850 (2-3/8″).
- Does it work with the 2-3/8″ surface-mount base (238-IS/PB)?
- No. That base uses a bolt-on compression collar rather than a drive-on cap.
- Is any maintenance required?
- Keep the hinge and contact faces clean; inspect periodically for wear. Replace the tool if it becomes damaged or deformed.
- Will it mar my post finish?
- Proper alignment helps prevent scuffs. Light touch-up is normal on high-volume installs.
